Barrels:
Aged 20 months in
60% French Oak (Taransaud, Saury, Vernou)
40% American Oak (Schahinger, Canton , Boswell)
Tasting Notes: May 15, 2008
Still showing signs of its youth, it is a very powerful wine. Dark red fruit are the dominant flavours, both on the nose and in the mouth. Although the wine has been in barrels (both new and older) for 20 months, it is the character of the fruit which dominates this fruit salad.
In the mouth, the wine is soft and velvety. Immediate upon swallowing, the wine shows its power, but it doesn't take long until the mouth is calm and enjoying the experience.
The rich sweet fruit flavours (blueberries, cherries, plums), together with licorice, cloves, chocolate and mocha, make up this fruit salad.
The flavours still have presence in the mouth after two minutes (long!)
