Barry Saslove, a Canadian computer engineer, has been a wine lover for many years. He used to travel around the world, exploring the wine culture of different countries, and teaching his fellow workers the art of wine appreciation.
In 1991 he left computers for a new career of winemaking. Barry considers himself first and foremost as a wine educator. More than 3000 people have participated in Barry’s wine courses over the years.
In 1993 He started to make wine himself, and a year later began manufacturing wine for commercial distribution. In 1998 the Saslove Winery was established in Kibbutz Eyal. Saslove produces unique and meticulously crafted wines. Wines that are soft, rich and elegant, which invigorate and satisfy the soul and senses.
The making of Saslove wines begins 800 meters above ground in the Upper-Galilee Vinyards. The basalt soil and cool dry mountain air are an ideal environment for the growth of exceptional wine-grapes. The grapes are gathered and selected by hand at dawn, and are placed in special protective containers. Then they are transferred via cooled trucks to the Winery. Saslove produces 3 series of red wine and also a small quantity of white wines every year. The winery employs state-of-the-art technology, lifelong experience and skill, and ancient tradition thus creating excellent, unforgettable wine.
While wine making is Saslove’s chief occupation, Barry has not abandoned his original vocation of educating. The winery is well-known for its wine seminars in which Barry himself teaches wine tasting.
